The 34th Let’s Eat Collingwood evening on April 27th was a memorable event. We arrived into Gustav Chophouse & Bar through the newly renovated Georgian Bay Hotel & Conference Centre’s lobby. We were met at the door by Terri & Chris and the wonderful live music of piano man Dennis McAndrew.
Entering into the comfortable lounge we enjoyed perusing Gustav’s extensive wine list. The Wednesday 1/2 price bottle night made the selection more adventurous. After enjoying our first sip the appetizers started to arrive. The Stuffed Yorkie Bites with forest thyme mushroom, parmesan, shaved prime rib, and horseradish cream melted in your mouth. It was hard to resist not taking more than one.
The lively banter, smooth music and delicious nibbles in the lounge led us seamlessly into the dining room where we were given our seating plan. Once settled at the table and making introductions we were served the first course, a light Foie Gras that set the tone for the meal ahead. A crisp green salad cleansed the palette followed by the main course, a choice of three mains with the idea of trying a variety of what Gustav’s has to offer.
The evening came to a delightful end with chef Jeff Anderson making his rounds to each table to say hello and thank us for coming and enjoying his meal.
Thank-you to the participants, the organizers, the chef and staff for making Gustav’s a place you look forward to making a part of your local Culinary Experience.
