Santini’s Ristorante – March 4, 2014

Believe it or not, this was our first event of 2014. We took a bit of a pause after the holidays, but were warmly welcomed back to Let’s Eat! by the wonderful owners and staff of the new Santini’s Ristorante. They were such gracious hosts, even adding to the planned menu to give us more of a welcome, and more of a taste of their Italian hospitality. We’re so appreciative to have been treated like old friends.

The opening of Santini’s seems to bring up the question, “Can Collingwood support another Italian restaurant?” It’s a good question. I say the only way to answer it is to go eat at each of them. We have fantastic Italian restaurants in this town, and there’s no reason to stick to just one! Each has it’s own distinct decor and vibe. I’m no expert on Italian food, but it seems that each of our local Italian restaurants serves food from different regions of Italy. The menus are quite different from one to the other.

My first impression of Santini’s was surprise. I didn’t expect such an impressive interior. It’s beautiful, warm, welcoming, and nothing like any other restaurant in our area. There are even two separate dining rooms beyond the main dining room. Each room has it’s own unique style and feel.

The antipasti served up on the bar was so delicious, that many of the guests of Let’s Eat! almost filled up on the grilled shrimp, cured meats, olives, and other delicious starters. Luckily some of us saved room for the hearty main dishes. Italian roast, lasagna and salmon – something for everyone! There were smiles and laughter all around the room, our bellies were full, and we all left happy.

Thank you, Santini’s!
