The Siamese Gecko – December 13, 2011

The Siamese Gecko, a Thai restaurant owned by the wonderful Narry, became an instant favourite of ours upon moving to Collingwood in 2008. Narry and her family are from Thailand, so the food there is authentic Thai, prepared with love…which enhances the flavour and enjoyment of a meal, as everyone knows! It was a no-brainer that we’d hold our next event here. Our hosts added a new dimension to the event — family style seating and a fun trivia game. Rather than tables of 2, 4 or 6 that we’re accustomed to, the guests were grouped around long tables, in groups of about 14 people each. Each table group became a team, trying to correctly answer trivia questions about Thailand, while enjoying some delicious tastes of the beautiful country. Around a healthy and mouth-watering spread, including such dishes as deep fried spring rolls, mango salad, yellow curry, and more, served with rice and jasmine tea…and a few alcoholic beverages for good measure, strangers became team-mates for the evening, and everyone had a blast. Thanks so much, Narry and team, for all the extra steps you took to make this a memorable event for all.
