The Smoke – February 4, 2013
The Smoke February 4, 2013
We kicked off year 3 of Let’s Eat! at The Smoke. This restaurant is truly one of a kind in our area, and the name says it all. The Smoke is the place to go for lovers of smoked food – particularly smoked meat. This is not the restaurant to go to if you have a tiny appetite! This is where portions are generous, the food is hearty, and everyone leaves feeling satisfied. And again, there really is no other place to get food like this!
There were appetizers of smoked trout and red onion on crackers, mini smoked pork and veal meatballs, and even smoked hummus with tortilla chips. Our personal favourite was the smoked trout – dig in to some of that next time you visit The Smoke. When the dinner plates – actually platters – were brought to the table, we were sure they were for sharing. We were wrong! Each Let’s Eat! guest had a whole platter of smoked meat in front of them. Some of us were ecstatic, while the rest of us were a bit scared of the task ahead…but due to the flavour, we were up for the challenge. There were smoked back ribs, smoked pulled pork, and smoked beef brisket, each with its own unique sauce. That pulled pork will have us back here for sure! And if this weren’t enough food already, all this smokey meat was served with cornbread, southern creamy coleslaw, smokey baked beans, and some of the best fries we’ve ever tasted.
So, next time you’re in the mood for food with substance, flavour, and especially meat…drop by The Smoke!
